Quite frankly, I'm surprised that Aperture works with High Sierra. Shooter game quit unexpectedly in school. Though, I'm not surprised that the D850 RAW format isn't supported by Aperture. Aperture development was discontinued about three years ago. It was replaced with Apple's 'Photos' - a replacement for 'iPhoto'. Neither were even close to what Aperture offered.

In June 2014, Apple announced that development of Aperture has been discontinued. Since then, Apple has released six major macOS upgrades. For technical reasons, macOS Mojave is the last version of macOS to run Aperture. Starting with macOS Catalina, Aperture is no longer compatible with macOS.

To continue working with your Aperture photo libraries, you must migrate them to another photo app. You can migrate them to the Photos app, which is included with macOS Yosemite or later, or migrate them to Adobe Lightroom Classic or another app. You should do this before upgrading to macOS Catalina.

Follow these steps if you're using macOS Mojave or earlier:

Choose Aperture > Preferences, click the Previews tab, then change the Photo Preview setting to Don't Limit. Close the preferences window.
From the list of projects in the Library inspector, select all of your projects. For example, click the first project listed, then press and hold the Shift key while clicking the last project.
Click the Browser layout button in the toolbar, so that all photos are shown as thumbnails.
Choose Edit > Select All to select all of your photos.
Press and hold the Option key, then choose Photos > Generate Previews.
Aperture now generates full-size previews for every photo in your library. To follow its progress, choose Window > Show Activity from the menu bar. Quit Aperture when processing is complete.
Open the Photos app, then choose your Aperture library when prompted, as pictured above. If you aren't prompted to choose a library, press and hold the Option key while opening Photos. If your Aperture library isn’t listed, click Other Library, then locate and choose your library.

When Photos shows the photos from your Aperture library, migration is complete.

If you're using macOS Catalina

Starting with macOS Catalina, Aperture is no longer compatible with macOS. If you upgraded to macOS Catalina before migrating your library to Photos, follow these steps:

Install the latest macOS Catalina updates. Your Mac must be using macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later.
If you migrated your library to Photos after installing macOS Catalina 10.15 but before updating to macOS Catalina 10.15.1, complete these steps before continuing:
1. Select your Aperture library in the Finder. By default, it's named Aperture Library and is in the Pictures folder of your home folder.
2. Choose File > Get Info. An Info window for your Aperture library opens.
3. In the Name & Extension section of the Info window, replace .migratedphotolibrary at the end of the file name with .aplibrary. Then close the window.
Open the Photos app, then choose your Aperture library when prompted, as pictured above. If you aren't prompted to choose a library, press and hold the Option key while opening Photos. If your Aperture library isn’t listed, click Other Library, then locate and choose your library.

When Photos shows the photos from your Aperture library, migration is complete.

Migrate your library to Adobe Lightroom Classic

RAW files are migrated, but Aperture's non-destructive adjustment layer does not. Lightroom’s migrator tool includes an option to export and migrate Aperture’s full-size JPEG previews for edited images. If you want to preserve your Aperture edits in another format, export the edited images from Aperture first, then reimport them into Lightroom after migrating your library.
Projects, folders, and albums are migrated to Lightroom collections and collection sets.
Faces, color labels, and stacks are migrated as keywords.
Rejected images are migrated to a collection.
Slideshows are migrated as collections.
Smart Albums and custom metadata fields aren't migrated.
Album organization is alphabetical, so manual sidebar organization might not be preserved.
Custom metadata fields aren't migrated.

Chances are, if you’ve gotten to this blog, you’ve tried all the usual fixes for this issue. You KNOW your CPU supports the required features (PAE, NX, SSE2) and and yet Windows 10 refuses to install. I recently read a post out there where a user could do a clean install, but could not do the upgrade.
By now, most of us have seen the screen shots of CPU-Z or Coreinfo showing perfectly good CPUs that seemingly cannot upgrade to Windows 10. I, too, have run in to this issue. I have Windows 7 Home Edition (32-bit) running on a Dell D620. For the life of me, I could not get it to upgrade. The CPU is a T7400, which does support all the required features.
I updated my BIOS and even ensured that the NX (no execute bit feature) was enabled in the BIOS.
I’ve checked for the patch that’s supposed to fix this issue, but nothing could get Windows to budge. I’ve messed with scheduled tasks to get the computer to re-evaluate, and yet nothing would change the answer.

After downloading the Windows 10 DVD and attempting an install – it was a little more specific. It told me, the particular feature missing on my CPU was NX support. I thought, this must be a Dell BIOS bug – but when I rebooted, and attempted a clean install, it complained of nothing of the sort. BUT, I didn’t want to nuke my Windows 7 install as this was my link to my free upgrade license! I also didn’t want to lose all my settings. This got me thinking – what in Windows relies up on NX support? The answer is DEP, or Data Execution Prevention.
So I checked in System Properties > Advanced > Settings. Under ‘Startup and Recovery‘, I found mine was set to:
“Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only”

This setting needs to change to:
“Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”
Another way to enable it, is at the command-line. This does require an elevated (or an administrative command prompt, search for Windows UAC for more information) command prompt to run the following:
bcdedit /set {current} nx AlwaysOn
After a reboot, I was able to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 to Windows 10! I used the DVD I downloaded to upgrade rather than trying to make the Windows 10 appraiser re-evaluate my machine.

Microsoft’s newest way of working with Windows – Windows 10 specifically – limits the hardware a person can use if they want updates. This might not seem crazy to the average PC user – it might even make a lot of sense in a very basic way. You want new software, you need new hardware, right? Not quite so fast there, buckaroo.
Why would anyone be displeased about this?
Some users used to the old ways of hardware and software on Intel and AMD chips and cards are not pleased. This is the beginning of the age of Windows as a Service – not the same as Windows as a piece of software. It’s no longer as simple as all that. These folks aren’t happy because they want to be able to run whatever hardware they wish without Microsoft having a say in what their performance needs to be.
Microsoft’s statement this week included the following regarding their Windows as a Service model. “A combination of hardware, driver and firmware support is required to have a good Windows 10 experience.” As such, hardware is no longer good enough for Windows 10 – some experiences, that is.
What chips are out?
Microsoft suggests that Intel Clover Trail Atom Processors require “additional hardware support to provide the best possible experience when updating to the latest Windows 10 feature update, the Windows 10 Creators Update.” These piece of hardware are at their “End of Interactive Support”, and as Microsoft suggests, “they may be incapable of moving to the Windows 10 Creators Update without a potential performance impact.”
Of course, Intel never supported Windows 10 on Clover Trail. Then Bay Trail was first on the list of Intel Atom systems on chips to get Windows 10 support after that.
Those Intel Clover Trail systems that are not qualified for the Creators Update will get their own update. That’ll be equivalent to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update – and it’ll be JUST fine for them.
